Just one month short of my 1 year quit smoking anniversary, I bought myself a present. : )
A Toronto based “get fit” weight-loss regimen called Newtopia. The idea behind Newtopia is that your genetics play a part in how you gain and lose weight and knowing a little bit about them can help you get fit faster and more effectively.
The first thing you do when you join the program is give Newtopia a sample of your saliva so they can analyze your DNA. They send you a pedometer, and a scale, and set you up with a personal coach so that you have some guidance and help getting fit. The scale and the pedometer allow staff at Newtopia to track your activity and weightloss via remote wireless technology.
I have to say that I haven’t had my official consultation yet, but I’m already impressed because of the one on one attention I have been getting from a lady(''ll call her "Senta"). It’s clear that they’re taking into account your personal goals and lifestyle in addition to encouraging physical activity on a daily basis and I believe that makes all the difference when you’re in the process of not only losing weight but adapting a new lifestyle which will allow you to live longer and live "well".
I used to work out daily, until I was put on medications for Diabetes type 2, the meds made me so sick that now I’m lucky if I get on the bike even one a week, so it’s clear that I need to start being active again. Working out is something I enjoy and I’m hoping that Newtopia can kickstart my routine and give me some "hope".
About two years ago I lost all hope after being on a popular diet that I lost alot of weight on, but I also got very sick with, It seemed the only way I could lose weight is when I starved myself and ate only 650 calories a day, oh the things we do when the promise of a commercial tells us we can lose a guaranteed 16-20 pounds a month. More on that, later.
This is NEW......Newtopia! I’m signed up for a year. I’ll be sharing my weekly results via this BLOG- so if you like, just follow along .
